Business is in her DNA, as the second generation of a successful construction business in Chicago, she segued from retail to develop the marketing, branding, and communication direction for her family’s firm, Riteway-Huggins Construction, Inc., a major Chicago developer. In her role, she was responsible for developing the company’s website, logo and marketing assets. Knowing the importance of conveying quality and authenticity in creating the right branding also inspired LaToyia to acquire her OSHA 145-hour and construction management certifications. Continuing in this vain has led LaToyia to opportunities that marry her talents and passions; working as the event and ticket manager for the Chicago Football Classic Scholarship Fund, Inc. and executive director for Christmas in the Wards.

LaToyia brings a broad and diverse background of sales, client and community relationship management, event coordination, television and digital media marketing, facilitation and executive director experience to her role as Director of Marketing at Strategia Consulting. A self-described retail baby in luxury and specialty merchandise, she LOVES fashion but her ability to analyze business and connect solutions that drive results is what built million-dollar teams and businesses in her retail career. LaToyia innately understands that the keys to success are found when the power of people’s ideas are actualized, a strategic process is implemented, and branding a unique image is implemented. This business strategy is a demonstrated success; notably, when she brought this strategy to life on the small screen with a local weekly tv lifestyle segment,Thursday’s Take with Joe Brand. Through a variety of topics, information, and products the segment she produced and starred in successfully introduced and tapped into a new customer base and re-engaged lapsed clients to shop, increasing store sales and penetration in key target demographics.


LaToyia’s commitment to success is exemplified in her work with community groups, small businesses, and corporate America to fundraise; produce and promote event campaigns; work in media relations; and advocate for the underserved communities throughout Chicago’s south, west, and north sides in the non-profit sector. She counts these as some of her most rewarding achievements. These efforts have allowed LaToyia to create cross-occupational relationships, from elected officials, non-profit leaders, to industry executives. Through Christmas in the Wards, she has forged partnerships with other non-profits like SocialWorks, distorted digital giving through Giving Tuesday campaigns with IL GIVE, created crowd funding campaigns like Laptops for Students through Start Some Good, and developed its website and social media platforms to penetrate its revenue, volunteerism, and presence within the city of Chicago. LaToyia is proud and humbled to say she was awarded a 2018 Woman of Distinction award as executive director for Christmas in the Wards.


All work and no play - certainly not! In her spare time LaToyia loves spending time with her dog Lacey, that she rescued after Hurricane Harvey. She’s a huge Chicago Bears fan, loves to cook, travel, visit wineries, enjoys dinners out with friends and trying new things-she has a penchant for useless random facts of information. Go figure!
